SaaS will disrupt the conventional software business model in many ways but the most profound change is unfolding already in the way implementation and support is addressed by the leading pure-play SaaS vendors. It marks the end of the era of expensive and lengthy implementations and prohibitive recurring support/AMCs.

A growing number of on-premise software providers are now offering SaaS variants of the software, a recognition of the direction in which the future of the software industry is headed. I recently read a post "How-VCs-Work" on venturewoods which was an entrepreneur's take on what I suspect is lack of interest by a VC, the royal ignore that many budding entrepreneurs get from the VC community.

It got me thinking, do we always need big money (read VC) to set up or grow a business?
